Annual Report 2025: UCatchUp Kasese 2

The report is about the 2025 implementation of the UCatchUp programme in Kasese, Uganda. The programme is government-led and designed to improve foundational literacy and numeracy among Primary 3-5 learners. It outlines the programme's scale-up to 264 schools, the use of Teaching at the Right Level to tailor instruction to learners' needs. It also outlines the results achieved despite contextual challenges. This report is intended for development partners, policy makers, researchers, teachers and teaching institutions and any other group looking for practical, evidence-based approaches to improve learning outcomes at scale.

Another element that this report highlights is how structured assessment, targeted teaching and continuous mentoring can lead to measurable learning gains with more learners able to read and perform basic numeracy problems. It is also useful to show how embedding interventions within government systems can strengthen sustainability and ownership beyond the duration of the programme.
