The Tanzanian context

VVOB opened our first office in Tanzania in 2025, building on more than 40 years of experience strengthening education systems worldwide. Our work here is guided by the Learning Unlimited strategy, which puts teachers and school leaders at the centre of lasting education reform.

In Tanzania, VVOB partners with the Agency for the Development of Educational Management (ADEM), to professionalise school leadership. To achieve this, our focus is on school leadership professional development at scale to strengthen the capacity of school and education leaders, so that they can provide the necessary pedagogical support to their teachers at the school level in support of the current Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) reforms. In addition, we work closely with the African Centre for School Leadership.

Effective school leaders create the conditions for good teaching, and therefore better learning for every child.

Together with our partners, we are contributing to the country’s education reforms by ensuring that school leaders are supported with accredited training, mentoring, and tools to lead inclusive, equitable schools.
