The Ecuadorian Context
VVOB – education for development has partnered with Ecuador’s Ministry of Education since 1988 to strengthen secondary technical education. In its early work, VVOB built institutional capacity, linked schools with the world of work, and supported student well-being through restorative practices that create safer and more inclusive school communities. VVOB piloted initiatives in sustainable tourism, workplace learning, and construction, aligning technical education more closely with national needs after the 2016 earthquake.
Today, Ecuador is one of the first countries where VVOB realises its global flagship Skilling for Sustainable Futures. We support teachers and school leaders with continuous professional development, while learners benefit from stronger career guidance and project-based learning, so they graduate ready for decent work and sustainable livelihoods.
