The Kenyan Context

Since 2016, Kenya has been rolling out a new Competency-Based Education system to give learners practical knowledge and problem-solving skills, asking teachers to move beyond memorisation and exams toward learner-centred methods, with school leaders guiding the transition. VVOB works with the Ministry of Education and other education institutions to support this move. VVOB in Kenya is also addressing other education challenges the country is facing, such as gender stereotypes limiting opportunities for both boys and girls, as well as preparing the youth for the green transformation of the country, as laid out in the Kenya Vision 2030.
